Who we are
HeartlineLetters was founded by Engel Abels, based on a deep belief in the power of words.
Words that are not fleeting, but lasting. Words that touch you, especially when you read them on paper.
The greatest source of inspiration behind HeartlineLetters is his wife, Derkina Smid, a lover of books, stories, and quiet moments of reading. Her love of literature, her way of reading and rereading, and her attention to language formed the starting point for an idea that slowly grew.
It all started in February 2026, at the kitchen table.
What began as a desire to make stories tangible again grew into a start-up with a clear goal: to let people feel once more what words on paper can mean.
